Book of Shadows 777 CD (2008) Ikuisuus
"The band was formed in 1999 when ST 37 founder Carlton Crutcher and his wife Sharon began seeking a magical, improvisational musical outlet. The band has stayed true to this vision for 9 years of live shows, studio recordings and numerous musicians. All of the recordings on 777 were recorded in 2007 and represent a peak for Book of Shadows as a live band as well as a studio band. For this CD, Sharon on vocals and Carlton on keys, are joined by Eric Archer (Numbers on the Mast) on guitar/electronics, long time Book of Shadows guitarist/composer Aaron Bennack, guitarist Jonathan Horne (Plutonium Farmers), Johnny McCollom (Primordial Undermind) on percussion, Matt Thies (Numbers on the Mast) on keys/electronics, Greg Elliott (Spagirus) on dulcimer, and Vanessa Rossetto (The Mighty Acts of God, Bright Duplex, Pulga, etc...) on viola, bowls and bells!!!" Century Plants Inversions CDR (2008) Ikuisuus
"Latest from Albany guitar duo whose six string damaging has often shred the guitar beyond recognition. For this outing, however, Century Plants plug in, and allow their guitars to be guitars. Psych raga, melting icebergs of roaring drone, metallic strum and clang, oceanic melody and even a helping of pastoral song melody separate this from previous smash ups. Hardiman and Hare create these hypnotic states from the ground up, building their sound out of pure improvisation. Oh yeah, the guitars don't always sound like guitars!" Dora Bleu 12 December 2007 CDR (2008) Ikuisuus
"12 December 2007 is a live recording of Dorothy Geller (From Quagmire) alias Dora Bleu and Alexandre St-Onge (Shalabi Effect, et Sans) taken in Montreal at Zoobizarre on that date. Several of the songs are inspired by the film The Night Porter (1976). The live event itself was called "Music on Dark Screens." St-Onge's dark, minimal and lush double bass is a perfect compliment to Geller's unconventional and minimal song structures. The songs and sounds refract each element together like an interplay between cracked and broken mirrors. The lyrics to the songs, like the film, make explicit that the violence of political reality interweaves with emotional, personal and psychic life, demonstrating the total inseparability of the world and self and sexuality. Recommended for people who saturate and submerge themselves in their listening." (Ikuisuus) CDR // 4 tracks // 30:48 mins. // fold-out card cover in plasticsleeve + inlet // limited to 120 copies.
Dreamers Cloth/Shiggajon Split K7 (2008) Ikuisuus
"Split tape including two more or less new Danish acts. In these recordings (made during past 6 months) huge collective Shiggajon was five people playing out many kind of musical experiments & improvisations, with large amount of instruments (alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, water, electric guitar, cello, scrap metal, violin, cembalo, bells, didgeridoo, bottles, chimes, drums, paper, and flutes). Floating orchestral jams to alienspace deep mystic drones, krautrock freakouts & free jazz moods from the structures of academic darkness - to the atmospheric swirls of heavenly light. Dreamers Cloth is a solo project by Jonas Frederiksen from Beyond Repair cassette label. Diving underwater in the ambient dreamlands of fantasy creatures and unknown high sky visions. Beautiful & psychedelic new age bliss-sound drones, for the fans of Tangerine Dream, Ashtray Navigations, Family Underground, Skaters, Dolphins Into The Future." (Ikuisuus) Audio cassette // 8 tracks // approx. 68 mins.
Hassu Pelle S.T. CDR (2008) Ikuisuus
"Hassu Pelle (Funny Clown) from Tampere, Finland was active only a couple of years at the first part of 2000s. This hilarious quintet was formed by Pelle Eloton, Pelle Svanslös, Ulkomaan Pelle, Pelle Jätkä, and Apupelle who was involved with the recording session. Hassu Pelle's self-titled first and only record was originally released by the band members themselves with the edition of approximately only 30 copies. Hassu Pelle played beautifully bittersweet, yet at the same time hysterically merry music, which could be described in this context as "circus music". Even the most hardened humourless person will get a smile on the face while listening to Hassu Pelle. There's no other ensemble which has reached such enchanting carnivalistic atmospheres like Hassu Pelle. This cultural achievement from Ikuisuus label saves these sounds of delight from the oblivion. Step into the circus, you won't regret!" (Ikuisuus) CDR // 8 tracks // 19:08 mins. // fold-out card cover in plasticsleeve
Hetero Skeleton Hasardi CD (2008) Ikuisuus
A wild puzzle of fiery noise, improv sections, moaning vocals, plunderphonics, blurring and bubbling fragments of sounds, instrumentation could have been sax, drums, guitars, vocals, electronic devices. Recorded between 2004 and 2008. CD // 40 tracks // 40:02 mins // fold-out cardboard cover.
Hetero Skeleton Borborygmi K7 (2008) Ikuisuus
"Insider's note: I just can't recall who played what. There's some photographic evidence, Arttu hunched over an amp, pitch-shifting, feedback, a whole lotta horn, the drums were buried & a mistake in the first place, the unreliable bullhorn, did I play some guitar? Don't know. Maybe we tried too hard. Maybe we even had a plan. Kinda reminds me of those Borbetomagus/Voice Crack-collaborations, if that's not too arrogant a description. Nowadays it's always like this, the train keeps a-rollin' from the get-go, does anybody remember when we used to do short songs? Where's the funny stuff? Nobody's laughing. We lost it, man, should really pack it all up & leave, call it a day. Just listen to those drums - what is that all about?" (Ikuisuus) Audio cassette // 2 tracks // approx. 47 mins.
Hunton Quintet Kuutelus K7 (2008) Ikuisuus
Side a comes with repetitive moaning electronics and a dark wind sound featured by strange voice acting. The b-side presents a spherical and rotary instrumental tune underlined by dense piano cluster and accentuated guitar sounds. Recorded in Pappilanmäki, Porvoo 2005. Mastered 2007 by Zelig. Agent Stepanoff: vocals, piano, quitar, Zelig Concrete : piano, guitar, percussions. Audio cassette // 4 tracks // 34:38 mins.
Inverz Variations On Hold CDR (2008) More Mars
"variations on hold" is inverz's first solo album. this is one of the most esoteric and atmospheric things that we have listen to for quite some time. structures emerge and dissolve as fast as mellodies appear and disappear. loops of meelodica follow guitar glitches and notes from an electric piano and all these merge in an organic body of sound soaked in feedback that u feel that will vanish in the background till the momment that something happens. always something happens and it is always hard to describe it in means of words. this is what sounds and music is for. this is what inverz is up to." Jones, Daniel/Papapostolou David Leaving Room CDR (2008) Adjacent
"On his recent live recording with one Daniel Jones (turntables, dulcimer and acoustic guitar) Papapostolou plays mixing desk feedback and computer with pickup. The recording is divided in six pieces, although it's one piece of sheer softness. The two play around with the notion of silence and sound, the presence of sound and the lack thereof, even when most of the time there is in fact something to hear. Carefully they explore their sound sources and know how to create an interesting, intense piece of music, moving the listener through various states of mind. Music that requires intense listening otherwise things will not make much sense. Close your windows, turn up the volume and listen. Improvised music of the next level." (FdW) CDR // 6 tracks // 42:11 mins. // oversized card sleeve.
Kheta Hotem Bowl Ceremony CDR (2008) Ikuisuus
"This release is a collection of sense-filling presentations starting with a ritual-like bowl ceremony, which leads into results closely related with free jazz and ethnomusic. In their gig brochure the group claims they continue the more than 1000 years old musical tradition of Komutia, where the musician acts as a mediator between the world of sounds and everyday existence. The instruments Kheta Hotem use are traditional instruments of ritual music: the didgeridoo and different percussions. However, the synthesizer and the electric guitar are not forgotten, either. Acoustic instruments, including the human guttural voices, meld with those produced electrically - the traditional Komutian rituals turn into avant-garde. One can admire and listen to the outcome as an impressive technical performance, and experience the atmosphere to the marrow." Lull Like A Slow River CD (2008) Glacial Movements
"Mick J. Harris aka LULL (Scorn, Painkiller, Napalm Death). With no doubt, this is the coldest and darkest work ever composed by this pioneer of industrial-ambient music. You all will be led to the oblivion of your existence....the freezing darkness of these glacial night is going to come down on your bodies and minds....you'll fall in your deepest sleep with the far echo of glacial runnings....the way to eternity is in front of you." (Glacial Movements) CD // 5 tracks // 6 panels digipack.
My3Yeah S.T. CDR (2008) Ikuisuus
"MY3YEAH started last year as a duo formed by Tomas Müller and GMC. The record on Ikuisuus is a session recorded on a tape deck with 3 different types of delays, whammy, volume pedal, distortion, feedbacker, guitar, and more , but we can't remember exactly. We did it in an empty apartment in the middle of the night in Buenos Aires. Then some months later GMC did a bit of mixing with his computer. Tomas was locked in the loony bin a few months ago, trying to recover from mental problems. ETC. Bye!" - MY3YEAH" (Ikuisuus) CDR // 5 tracks // 45:49 mins. // fold-out paper cover in plasticsleeve + inlet // limited to 120 copies.
Nadja/Netherworld Magma To Ice CD (2008) Fario
"Talented Italian ambient composer Alessandro Tedeschi runs the Glacial Movements record label and plays music as Netherworld. His fascination for polar landscapes and soundscapes makes him close to industrial ambient pioneers such as Thomas Köner, Rapoon, Biosphere and Lull. Icy, windy, droning and deeply 'protomelodic' at once, his music is a poetic translation of the ice floe. For this record, he used processed fragments of classical music. Nadja is the drone / doom / ambient duo of Canadian musicians Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff. Their behemoth of sound is a construction of heat, weight, loop and vapour. Here, they had to break Netherworld's ice and find a way to the red core of Earth. The common track brings heat onto ice, which warms up, crackles and soon melts. As a conclusion, the long piece by Nadja is total heat. This is Nadja 'unrhythmed', which means pure lava. This CD features exclusive graphic concepts and artwork by Alan McClelland " (Fario) Split CD
Netherworld Morketid CD (2007) Glacial Movements
"The aesthetic in the six dilated and elegant tracks forming this new project by Netherworld, the alias of Alessandro Tedeschi, founder of Glacial Movements, is purposefully very rarefied and well-inserted in the inexhaustible river going from ambient to drone music which, in its more or less isolationist branches, still enjoys a remarkable productive activity and consideration by people who don't normally listen to this kind of music and are more and more metabolizing avant-garde electronica. In this release, the sounds, aside from their stylistic label, show coherent structures and non-conceptual qualities as well, evoking imaginary places and crystal-like and arctic (a paradox for an Italian author) atmospheres." (Aurelio Cianciotta) CD // 6 tracks // digipack // ltd. 500 copies.
Nova Scotia Memphis CDR (2008) Ikuisuus
"The recordings were done at 2 seperate gigs at Photospace Gallery in Wellington, NZ. At this point we were using many homemade instruments, broken electronics, 4 tracks, and anything we had at hand. This album represents a highly experimental period for us and shows the way we were going at the time." - Rick Jensen. With Anthony Milton appearing on track one. Recorded 2005 CDR // 3 racks // 29:55 mins. // fold-out card cover in plasticsleeve // limited to 150 copies.
Oophoi An Aerial View CD (2008) Glacial Movements
"When I've been asked to describe the Ice Age with an uninterrupted drone, I knew I wanted to avoid the cliches of the genre: dark rumblings, massive low frequencies, cold atmospheres. I had to describe with sounds the white landscape, the blinding light reflected by the frozen oceans, the abyssal silence.I have imagined myself in flight over this Sleeping Earth, a solitary winged-being surrounded by winds, air, water and ice. This led me to compose an airy drone with minimal variations and delicate tones, an hommage to a pure, incontaminated and remote land." (Oophoi) CD // 1 track // 65:07 mins. // digipack ltd. 750 copies.
Papapostolou, David One And Two CDR (2006) Adjacent
"In about 20 minutes David Papapostolou, a French musician living in Bristol, shows good improvisational and assembling skills over the course of three tracks in which he manipulates guitar, cello and soprano saxophone with the kind of extended techniques one could expect from an artist working in the "Creative Sources zone" of EAI. It's a honest, modest record that, besides the instruments, capitalizes on a background of urban environmental sounds, especially noticeable in the solo guitar track which is also the disc's best. Papapostolou is also interested in acknowledging the effects of educated feedback and small percussive gestures in pretty tranquil settings; the gentle whispers, subdued frictions and wheezes he conjures up from cello and sax are like phantom voices that recount the unadulterated beauty of the acoustic properties of a "normal" source when it's carefully investigated in its minute components. Nothing really unheard before, but very well done and worthy of several concentrated attempts." (Massimo Ricci, Touching Extremes) CDR // 3 tracks // 20:44 mins. // fold-out cardborad in plastic sleeve
Rapoon Time Frost CD (2007) Glacial Movements
"Time Frost is music based upon this concept and uses tiny fragments of music from an iconic European composition, Johann Strauss's Blue Danube. I imagined that tiny pieces of former cultures survived locked in the ice and waiting for future archaeologists to discover and interpret them.I used vinyl lock grooves of the Blue Danube (from the 1968 MGM recording for the film soundtrack 2001 ) These formed the starting points for the five compositions in Time Frost which were then manipulated and added to and re-arranged into new compositions. Time Frost is an imaginary recording of the mutational process of sound locked into ice and transformed over millenia. Like ghosts of music trapped in an evershifting permafrost." (Robin Storey) CD // 5 tracks // digipack ltd. 750 copies.

Steinberger, Edmund Schicht 2xMINICDR (2008) Blackwholedisks
Edmund Steinberger presents 6 tracks using alto saxophone, bass clarinet, flugelhorn, synthesizer, percussion, electronics. These sound elements were carefully overdubbed to well defined sound collages. Abstract noises are alternating with the concrete sounds of the instruments which were used. The pieces are reminiscent of experimental constructions or of imrovised music styles as well. Summers, Tracy Lee My Favourite Color CDR (2008) More Mars
"tracy lee summers' music selfdescription. "...when flowers overgrown with wretched microphone starts to miaow something about prog/ambientism- avantgarde/rock in opposition, digital-field-electro and pataphysical rythms...". when we listen to TLS's works on LEEP ["p color" (w lezet), "mass creation machine" (feat k-the-i???), "acidoulus pink and grils from uranus", "phonographie" (w mark rira)] we were fascinated with the incredible approach to rythm and how easily avant-garde approaches were mixed with pop and rock, hip-hop and everything else that someone might think that is almost impossible to mix. "my favourite color" summerizes all these in 10 tracks that run almost for 30 minutes ranging from abstraction to rock and from new wave to musique concrete. a taboo-less classic."
